Skirted sorption booms are a type of sorbents that are used to clean liquids from contaminants. The skirt is formed by adding certain polymeric materials, such as polypropylene or polyethylene, to the sorbent, forming vertical plates or threads on the surface of the sorbent. These plates or filaments form barriers that attract and hold contaminants, allowing clear fluid to pass through.
Due to their structure, skirted sorbents can effectively contain various types of contaminants such as oil, chemicals and other organic matter. In addition, they can be used in many different areas such as industry, medicine, domestic use and many more.
