ECONAD Oil Absorbent Booms with PVC Skirt combine oil absorption and floating containment in a single lightweight system.
The boom consists of an absorbent polypropylene element positioned above a flexible PVC skirt with a galvanized ballast chain. This combination allows the system to absorb floating oil while simultaneously limiting the movement of contamination below the water surface.
Combined Absorption and Containment
The boom can be deployed in two different ways depending on the required operation.
With the absorbent side facing the spill, the system simultaneously contains and absorbs floating oil and petroleum products.
With the skirt side facing the contaminated area, it can be used primarily as a lightweight containment barrier, helping control floating contamination, light debris or oil before mechanical recovery.
This dual-purpose design makes the boom suitable for emergency response as well as preventive protection around sensitive areas.

The upper floating section is manufactured from polypropylene absorbent material designed to collect oil and petroleum products from the water surface.
The absorbent boom remains positioned directly at the air-water interface, where floating hydrocarbons accumulate, allowing the material to continuously absorb contamination during deployment.
A durable PVC skirt extends below the water surface and provides an additional containment function.
The skirt helps reduce the movement of floating contamination beneath the boom and improves the ability of the system to maintain oil within the controlled area.
The skirt is manufactured from 600 g/m² PVC-coated material and is supplied in a high-visibility orange colour.
A 5 mm galvanized steel chain is installed along the lower edge of the skirt.
The ballast helps maintain the skirt in a vertical position in the water and provides additional stability during deployment.
Individual boom sections can be connected together to create a continuous containment line.
The system incorporates:
- Eye rings
- Velcro connections between boom sections
- Velcro straps connecting the PVC skirt to the absorbent boom
- Small carabiners connecting the ballast chain
The lightweight modular construction simplifies deployment, recovery, transportation and storage.
The relatively low weight of the system allows boom sections to be quickly transported and deployed without specialised lifting equipment.
Two 5-metre sections can be connected to provide approximately 10 metres of continuous coverage, making the system suitable for rapid response to localised spills.
