- 1973. First oil embargo.
- 1975. The US Congress decided to create a strategic oil reserve in the country in order to reduce the dependence of the economy on export oil in the future.
- 1981. OPEC countries have reduced oil production by about a quarter compared to 1978. Oil prices have doubled.
- 1982. OPEC countries set oil production quotas for the first time.
- 1986-1987. “Tanker war” between Iraq and Iran.
- 1993. For the first time in history, the US imported more oil than it produced.
- 1997. Toyota created the first mass-produced car powered by gasoline and electricity – the Prius.
- 1999. Merger of major French oil companies: Total Fina and Elf Aquitaine.
- 2004. Oil prices reached a record, exceeding $40 per barrel.
Today, the means of cleaning water bodies and territories from oil and oil products are very popular and will change around the world.
