Oil is one of the most sought after minerals in the world.
Oil is one of the most sought after minerals in the world. With its help, cars drive, trains fly and motors move. It would seem, what could be better and more useful?
However, it is oil that causes an unprecedented appearance to the environment.
The extraction of “black gold” from the bowels of the earth leads to a number of environmental disasters:
- Deforestation. Trees are destroyed for miles to make way for well drilling.
- Pollution of the oceans and seas. When oil is poured into water, it forms a thin oily film on the surface, which does not allow air to pass through and releases carbon dioxide.
- The disappearance of many species of insects, animals, fish and birds that die from contact with oil or habitats that are mercilessly destroyed.
- Global warming. A large amount of carbon dioxide in the earth’s atmosphere will lead to climate change on the planet. All this is due to the fact that the combustion of petroleum products removes a large amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
In order to stop the destruction of the climate and the planet as a whole, it is worth completely stopping oil production and the use of petroleum products in industry. However, even with the availability of alternative fuels, humanity is not yet ready to completely abandon the “black gold”. It is possible to reduce harm to the environment if modern protective preparations, sorbents, biological products, booms and other technologies are used.
